Pacific Rim REVIEW

It is time to bring you a review of one of my favorite movies that came out this year . . . Pacific Rim. In this movie a war between mankind and a alien race that is emerging deep within the Pacific Ocean, is heating up. Us humans create an advanced giant robot to fight the ginormous alien creatures. Years past and the aliens evolve and are beginning to win. Where our story begins is when a former pilot and a trainee must fight together to save mankind.

Now as mentioned above this is literally my favorite movie I have seen so far in 2013. Normally science-fiction movies are not the greatest, but when they are good, they are normally GREAT. To mention a few would be: Avatar, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Well Pacific Rim is another GREAT science-fiction film. To start off why I freaking love this movie I would have to mention the fighting scenes. In this movie they had a huge special effect budget and the special effects in this movie are fantastic. Seriously there is not one scene were I could complain about the special effects, which makes a great movie in my opinion. Director Guillermo del Toro does a great job with this film as well. Within the fight sequences you just feel the enormity of the robots and aliens. The angles in which they use the special effects really adds to the movie. Now with the action sequences between the robots and the aliens you will just love. I could seriously watch them all freaking day. They are WAY beyond badass, I honestly love them.

Now the next nice thing about this movie is that it isn't just about the fighting sequences. The story behind this movie is also great. In the beginning they give you all the information you could possibly need before they get to the real stuff. You also actually care about the characters in this film. Charlie Hunnam plays the main character, Raleigh Becket. I personally loved him in this movie. Some people didn't but I think he did a great job for what they movie is. Everyone in this movie did a great job. The girl in this movie, Mako Mori, is played by Rinko Kikuchi, and she personally is fantastic. When seeing the trailer for this movie I didn't think I was going to like her character, but I ended up loving her character and I think that is because of Rinko Kikuchi. Idris Elba, Diego Klattenhoff, Charlie Day, Burn Gorman, Ron Perlman, and many others do a great job in the movie. Sure in this movie there are a few points where the acting is a little corny because of the story, but somehow it sort of works for the film.

Now there are a few things more I would like to mention about this movie and how these things make the film BAD-FREAKING-ASS. First thing I wanted to mention is the score of this film. Seriously the score is absolutely perfect for this film. Ramin Djawadi, who also did the musical score for Iron Man, does a perfect job for Pacific Rim. It just works great with all the action sequences and again it adds to the enormity of the scenes. Next I also wanted to talk about how BADASS this movie is. Seriously if you have any kid part of you left in your body you will find this movie outstandingly BADASS. How the Jaeger's (the robots) fight the Kaiju (the Aliens) is seriously the coolest thing ever. Lastly I wanted to talk about how much I really loved this move. I just want to make sure how clear I am saying that this movie is clearly one of the most enjoyable movies I have ever seen. What makes a great movie in my opinion is how it can take you out of your world and put you in a complete other world and let you forget your problems. Pacific Rim does this perfectly and it is one of the baddest ass movies of all time.

Summing up this review I will have to say that this movie is an enjoyable ride through and through. I will seriously watch this movie time and time again. So for sure it is going to get a MUST-SEE film rating as well as a buy on Blu-Ray rating. Watching it on Blu-Ray makes the movie look so freaking awesome. Pacific Rim is a perfect popcorn movie night film, and if you have seen it before that is fine because it is enjoyable no matter how many times you see it. I just watched it last night and I plan on watching it again after this review is complete, that is seriously how much I love it. Well as for the rating out of ten stars I will give Pacific Rim a solid and well deserved 10/10 star rating.

Well thanks for reading this review of Pacific Rim. I really hope that you have enjoyed it because seriously this movie has now been added to my top ten list. It is just something you can't fully describe on how badass and awesome this movie is. Well stay tuned for more reviews and movie stuff . . . coming soon.

Thor REVIEW

In honor of Iron Man 3 being released on Blu-Ray, Marvel's Agents of Shield premiering on ABC tonight, and Thor: The Dark World tickets being available, the Motion Picture Buff would like to present a review for the film Thor. In this film the powerful but arrogant god of thunder, Thor, is banished to planet Earth. Here he learns the true meaning of ruling and power.

Now lets begin with the negatives of this film shall we? Firstly I would like to mention that going into this movie I thought it was going to be absolutely terrible, but in fact I really did enjoy this movie. There were only few negatives to this film to be accurate. It is a little childish in my eyes. The scenery and feel of this movie has a little bit to much of a comic book feel to it. Other Avengers films do not have this feel. Yes a few others have this feel like Iron Man 2, but this one for sure has this feeling. The dialogue in this film could have been a little better too. It seems just a little bit forced. The last thing I wanted to mention is the performance of Natalie Portman. I really do not like her in this movie. She does not seem like an actress who could be in a comic book film and for sure she does not pull it off. Her performance just seems silly, forced, and she does not fit the character she plays.

It is time to talk about positives though now. Every single actor in this film does a great job, actor not actress. I feel the performances by the men in this film were very good. Don't get me wrong actresses are great but just not in this film. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston have amazing chemistry together. They really do seem like brothers in this film. They have the look in there eyes, and in the end scene together you can really see the emotion in Chris's face. Chris really becomes the character of Thor. When casting these Avenger movies they really did a good job with it. Tom Hiddleston as Loki was AMAZING! He really is the god of mischief, he pulls of this character so well I just do not see anyone else pulling it off as perfectly as him. They really found the right actor to play Loki. Of course the other actors in this film did just as well, but I really wanted to emphasize those two. Moving on though I do want to talk about the director of this film. A movie like this has got to be hard to direct and when I heard it was Gilderoy Lockhart from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Kenneth Branagh, I just about shit a brick. I was like, "Well done sir, well done." With the little expectations I had for this movie I was kind of blown out of my seat. He did a great job with Thor. The action of this movie was intense and exciting. I was interested in the full movie, and I loved how we got more of Agent Coulson in this movie.

Summing this review up I would say that Thor is a great start for a great superhero. It really helps add to the story that is crucial for The Avengers. It is a must-see film just like every Avenger movie is. I would buy this on Blu-Ray though, it looks way more spectacular if purchased on Blu-Ray and it is for surely worth it. Thor would also be a great popcorn bowl movie night film. Need a movie to watch one night, this movie works perfectly. Seen it before though? I still say that it is worth watching over and over. It is worth watching more than once. For the rating though I would give Thor a 7/10 rating.

Well I hope you have enjoyed this review of another Marvel film . . . Thor. To see see my review of other Marvel films click there names HERE: The Avengers, Iron Man, and Iron Man 2. I have not been reviewing as much as I want, but I promise to keep doing them. So make sure you stay tuned. Star Trek: Into Darkness REVIEW

The Motion Picture Buff would like to present a review for the summer blockbuster of 2013, Star Trek: Into Darkness. In this film James T. Kirk, is on a hunt for a man who has declared war on Star Fleet. This hunt lands the crew of the Enterprise on the border of Star Fleet's nemesis.

Let me start off by saying this movie is pretty darn spectacular. It has all the right formulas to a great blockbuster. Not only is this movie a good blockbuster, it is a very enjoyable film. So the first thing I would like to mention is the acting in this film. Everyone involved in this film does a great job. The cast includes Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Benedict Cumberbatch, and others. Each one of these actors do a fantastic job. The chemistry between Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto is perfect.  I love how they bicker back and forth but then when it comes to the emotional stuff they can still pull those scenes off. Now one actor who really stands out in this movie is Benedict Cumberbatch. He does a FANTASTIC job as Khan. The facial expressions he uses when he talks are just great. They help bring a perfect performance and help make the movie WAY more enjoyable. You forget that these people aren't actually these characters and that they are actually other people in this world. Thats what I like to call good acting. Now moving on the action and the way J.J. Abrams does it is perfect. It flows perfectly with the story of this film. Speaking of the story behind this film I would have to say that it is amazing. I was emotionally attached to this film in so many ways. Sure it is an action film, but the film makes you really care about the characters. This film has ups and downs, and there is a point in the film where it gets really emotional and you really feel it. The actors, the story, the direction, it all makes the scene perfect. J.J. Abrams does a great job with the movie . . . he takes Star Trek: Into Darkness in a whole new direction than his first Star Trek film. The name of the film says it, it is a way darker film. The feel of this movie is great too. I love how they took Star Trek up a notch with this movie.

Now even though this movie is very, very good, I have to say that this movie has one flaw. The flaw in this movie would have to be the ending of the film. Here we are in a huge action scene, and then it suddenly ends and that is basically the end of the movie. The movie just comes to an abrupt halt. That would probably be the only bad thing I could mention from this film.

Summing up this review up I would say that this film is pretty darn enjoyable and probably one of the best films to come out during the summer season of 2013. There is only one movie I can think of that I enjoyed more over the summer season. I will review that movie later though. You for sure should buy this movie on Blu-Ray, it is totally worth buying on Blu-Ray. I own it on Blu-Ray and it looks incredible. This movie is also a perfect popcorn movie night film. Make a bowl of popcorn, grab a blanket, and pop in this movie. For the rating out of ten stars I would give Star Trek: Into Darkness a 9/10 stars.

Well I hope you enjoyed this review of the newest Star Trek film. To see my review of the first of the new Star Trek films, CLICK HERE. So make sure you stay tuned for more reviews, I know they haven't been as often as I said, but I still plan on doing them . . . so stay tuned for more coming soon.

Many Apologies

Hello readers,

I know I have said this countless times before but I am back. I am in a new apartment and I am focused on my life and my career. I want to get focused on reviewing again, I want to get back into reviewing movies again, and what better way than to continue with the site I already have. Even while I have been gone for almost a year I have still been getting lots of people reading my reviews which makes me happy. I right now have over 4000 page views. Now I hope by the end of the year I can at least double that and make a review of a movie at least four times a week. I will also do posts on other things related to the movie industry like: favorite actor/actress, what makes an actor/actress great, top movies, and others.

Now you should expect a review by the end of today or tomorrow. Then after that I hope to release a review at least every other day. So make sure you subscribe by email in the sidebar so you are emailed when I do post, or just stop by everyday to see if I have done a review.

Thanks for remaining loyal to me,

Skyfall REVIEW

The "Motion Picture Buff" would like to FINALLY present his review of 007's "Skyfall." First thing though I would like to aplogize for the lateness of this review, in the process of moving, school, and working two jobs. Give me time to get situated and I promise it will all be back to normal. Anyways in this film, Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her murky past comes back to haunt her.

Well well well what can I say about this film that I hated?!?!?!? Um nothing all I have is good things really, and most importantly that this is the Bond film that we deserve after a four-year wait for one. Daniel Craig excels as James Bond again, and seriously in my opinion he is the best Bond there is or ever was. Judi Dench returns as M and again you just love her. Judi and Daniel have just the greatest chemistry and it really starts to show in this film. Then the villain in this film is played by Javier Bardem, and lets just say that he does a superb job. He just plays the creepy and insane character so well. I loved him in this film. Moving onward though . . . I loved, loved, LOVED the screenplay within this film. Just a perfect Bond story after the years of waiting. Why? Well the address the fact that James/ Daniel are both getting a little old. They play with it perfectly. Plus there was also amazing twists within the film that I enjoyed. Never thought it would end the way it did. I do want to mention how they had a bunch of older Bond film references too. I thought it was neat and creative in a way. Director Sam Mendes was at the helm of this film and lets just say, he does a great job with James Bond. The camera angles are just amazing. What I mean by this is that they just capture the feel of the movie great and they capture the amazing scenery that they shot this film in. The action is amazing and extremely engaging, you will never be bored with it I can promise you that.

So all-in-all is this Bond movie the best James Bond film yet? Does it live up to the hype? Yes indeed it does. I can say that for sure this is the best James Bond film I have ever seen. I loved it so much and I really do not have any grips. This film is a little more involved but that is not a negative, actually I would consider that a HUGE positive.

Now for the ratings I am going to give "Skyfall" a must-see film rating because it really is worth it. I want to see it again here soon. Maybe in IMAX? I will also give it a Blu-ray buy worthy rating for it too. I will give it this new rating of BADASS! It literally is just full of awesome action, awesome dialogue. "Skyfall" will also get a popcorn flick rating. As for the rating out of five, "Skyfall" will get a 5/5 rating for sure.

Well thanks for reading this post, and thanks for staying loyal to the blog. I apologize for the lateness of this review. I promise once I get situated in my new house I will be back on track with reviews. Thanks again and stay tuned for more . . . coming soon.
